Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

October 20, 2011

Holy smokes!  Before you know it a lifetime can go by and you haven’t blogged a single thing! Well these pictures are MUCH overdo but they deserve a post all to themselves.  My trip to Florida with Jamie to visit the Harry Potter theme park was magic.  I cried three times before I even got inside the HP part of the park.  It was just a dream come true.  Yea, so maybe my dreams are sometimes small BUT they’re still mine…all mine.

{flying to Florida through a golden sunset}

{This pretty much sums up how we felt all day long!}

{THE castle}

{slurp…butter beer! It tasted like cream soda, butterscotch, frozen goodness}

{Honeydukes – The Twins candy shop}

{if only I could be a real wizard/witch}

{clearly}

{we rode this roller coaster four times…totally worth the vertigo feeling that lasted all day!}

{Jamie got a new boyfriend. He’s her favorite color.}

{I wasn’t so sure about him. But isn’t that how we’re supposed to treat the new boyfriend of your best friend?}

It was such a fun trip.  I was thankful to celebrate this with one of my dearest friends, Jamie Jett! She is just the sweetest most thoughtful lady in the universe. I LOVE her.

I’m currently sitting in the Seattle,WA airport for one heck of a layover.  I’m trying not to smile as much because that always seems to get me into trouble.  Crazy out of control smile that never stops!! You’re a trouble magnet, I tell ya.

Homemade Granola & Butter Beer

August 11, 2010

My friend Nicole and I made some yummy yummy and more yummy homemade granola the other day.  It’s so easy to make and actually really healthy.  I’ve eaten it every morning with vanilla yogurt and blueberries.  Mmmm mmmm mmmmm. Wanna make it?  I thought so!!

Yummy Ingredients:
2 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut
1/2 cup craisins
1/2 cup flaxseed
1/4 cup maple syrup
3 Tbs vegetable oil
2 Tbs warm H2O

Now you make it:
-Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
-Spray 9×13 pan
-Mix oats, wheat germ, salt, and extra ingredients (except for the dried fruit) in bowl.

-Heat syrup, oil and water to simmer on medium heat.

-Drizzle over oats and stir to combine.
-Pour mix into prepared pan.
-Use your (clean) hands or a spoon to mix ingredients together.
-Bake 30 minutes then stir in dried fruit.
-Bake 20-30 minutes longer or until golden brown.
-Cool and store up to one month in airtight container.
**this recipe will make 2 batches (I love that word) of granola so you’ll need two 9×13 pans.

Now eat it up because it’s addicting.  I want some right meow. So the granola itself was good enough but we also made Harry Potter Butter Beer!! Eek! I have always been a lover of all things Harry Potter so when my friend Josiah showed me this Butter Beer recipe I had to make it.  It sent Nicole and I into sugar shock but it was totally worth it.

Ingredients:
1 bottle IBC Cream Soda
1/3 cup heavy cream
2 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs powdered sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Then you make the sweet magical goodness:
-Whip all of the ingredients (except the cream soda) to desired consistency.
-Pour Cream Soda into frosted mugs.
-Layer foam on top with spoon, let rest for 10-20 seconds for the soda to carbonate the foam.

So yummy!

Cheers!!!

I’m headed to Omaha in the morning.  I’ll try to blog during the weekend but it’s going to be a little hectic with my work schedule and all.  Signing off to finish eating the brownies I just made and watch Across The Universe.  My how I love this movie.

xoxox! Thanks again for reading my little bloggity blog!! Leave me a comment if you want me to check out your blog and I’ll be sure to do it.  I’ve met so many lovely people in the blogosphere so far.  Loves it.

If you know me at all, you understand how much I ::love:: Harry Potter.  I started reading the books when I was in college and was immediately put under enchantment.  Like I’ve said before, I wish so badly that Hogwarts exists and die a little each time I remember it doesn’t.

Until now…
The Universal Studios Harry Potter theme park is NOW OPEN!!  I.am.dying!!! Yea, I’m planning the trip for September/October and I cannot cannot cannot wait.  Here are some pics from the grand opening, taken from this fantastic website.  My heart can barely contain the good vibes.  I’m getting light headed just thinking about it.
