Holidays Are For Being Fancy

December 9, 2011

This doesn’t happen often but it shall happen again.

{just your average iPhone mirror shot}

I ::love:: being a girl.
I’m laughing that my bangs shadow makes it look like I only have makeup on one eye.
Silly shadows.
Sillier girl.

What are YOU thankful for?

Dear Diary

September 3, 2011

I drove in to Austin last evening to spend some time with my best friend, Jamie.  We’ve known each other since college and she really is the best.  When I arrived, she had pizza and three gift wrapped boxes waiting for me.  It was a late birthday present, I suppose. I opened the gifts to find something special inside…three boxes FILLED with old journals, notes, gifts from ex boyfriends and memories that I had collected since jr high.  Jamie has been lugging these around since we lived together 10 years ago!! HA!! Needless to say, lots of laughter began as we dove into an endless stream of teenage angst and forgotten memories.

{my 1994 diary}

I have laughed until I’ve cried about some of these entries.  Let me just share with you the first page of this particular diary. Prepare yourself.  It’s pretty awesome.  Take a trip with me to 1994….

Dear Diary,
Wow!  I haven’t written in over a year.  I’m so SORRY!  So much has happened.  Now it seems my whole life is devoted to Jonathan Taylor Thomas!  I know everything about him.  I only have 86 pictures of him on my wall but I want a lot more.  I wish I could meet him.  I know I will.  I sent off an entry to win a trip to Hollywood.  I’ll be able to meet him if I win.  I made 51 copies and sent them all off…

{yes, a real page from the diary}

Mom and dad –
if you ever wondered how all those stamps disappeared…now ya know.

I am crying from laughing so hard as I type this! Wow, just wow. Sweet little Laura.  I don’t even know what’s happened to JTT, the love of my teenage years.  Oh life…you are so funny sometimes.  I never know what to expect but I am thankful the Lord continues to grow me. I’m also glad that I can look back at the past 17 years and be thankful for what they’ve held.  Some moments more embarrassing than others.

Way to be awesome, Jamie.  And thanks for helping me make so many of the memories in those boxes.  We should plan on filling many many more.

Blog Button!

August 4, 2011

I’m like soooo grown up right now.  Well, my blog is getting there.

My sweet and talented friend Jamie made a cute little blog button and linkage love!!  Grab one if you like.
It’s on the right side.
See it?
I’m hiding behind all of the balloons again.

Thanks in advance if you grab it up!!  Woot!

Also, here’s a happy summertime video to enjoy while the heat waves continue to take over the world!! AAAAUGH!!!

More balloons? Ok!

Here are some of the last photographs from my weekend adventure with Mr. Marty.  I don’t really enjoy getting my photo taken all the time but every once in a while won’t kill me.  Well, at least I don’t think it will.

Holding on to this rainbow in the crazy 30 mph wind was a lot harder than it looks!

Basically, I’m an undercover fairy princess with magical flying powers.  Just let me believe it, ok?

And that, my dears, is the end.

Summer Shoot!

July 11, 2011

{that’s me back there! my friend Marty put  me in front of the camera and behind pretty balloons}

This is my favorite photo that we took this past weekend.  The colors of the rainbow AND a dress?  That sums me up perfectly.

The idea was taken from a photo that I saw about a year ago.  I completely fell i love with it and practically begged Marty for the chance to recreate it.  You can see the photo here.  And if anybody knows where it came from I’d LOVE to know!!!

It’s always a joy to spend time with my talented friends as they develop their skills.  The perks aren’t so bad either.

June 14, 2011

Have you guys seen my motivation floating and twirling and running about?  If so, please return it to me as soon as you can.  She seems to have taken a trip and left me home alone to fend for myself.

I don’t travel much during the summer and this tends to make me feel a little… off.  My mind works better when my day-planner is packed from sun up to sun down.  I feel backwards when this happens.  There are SO many things that I should be and could be doing in my down time:

–blog more (oh, like that Scotland and Ireland post!! Blast!)
–take loads of photos and learn to edit them
–sewing lessons so I can mend some unwearables
–cook yummy things I’ve never tried before…like rhubarb (did I spell that right?)
–write letters and finally send the ones sitting on my desk (whoops!!)
–pretty little crafty projects
–work out regularly
–kick caffeine to the curb (for just a month or so)
–you get the idea….

So how does one motivate themselves?  We’ll see!!  I’m hoping I can figure this out before the whirlwind of life hits again.  I miss the whirlwind already but know there is peace in the stillness.  I’ve just never been good at finding it.

My, oh my!

What was that, you ask?  Just the sound of my heart stopping.

{We Heart It}

I will always have a little place in my heart for husky pups.  Gorgeous.  Ok, I think I can breathe again.

All Grown Up!

May 2, 2011

My little blog is undergoing some changes here and there…one day at a time.  One thing I’ve been wanting to do for a while is get a domain name of my very own.  So….

It’s officially mine!  I feel so grown up.  I also feel like I’ll be saving a few seconds of my life now that I won’t be typing in the longest//blog//URL//ever anymore.

Oh, Las Vegas was fun!!  However, I need to get back to enjoying my evening.  It’s fifty degrees here in Texas and  I’m in HEAVEN!!

Happy Birthday!

April 26, 2011

Happy one year birthday to my little blog!  Yes, it’s true.  An entire year has already passed since I started blogging.  I rarely stick with much of anything long term – boys, hobbies, learning to play the guitar, favorite color, limiting my sugar intake, etc – so I’m especially proud to have a blog anniversary and even happier about the things I’ve learned during this time!!

Things I’ve learned over the past year about blogging:

1::The world is much smaller than we think.  I’ve met some incredible people through the blog world and for this I’m entirely thankful.

2::Inspiration is only a click away.  There are about 20 blogs that I read every single day and I’ve been inspired so much by the men and women behind them.  Thank you for blogging!

3::Be consistent.  I’ve had a few people tell me that it’s best to blog at least 4-5 times a week.  This has been my goal, although there have been many weeks where I haven’t even gotten close to making this mark.  This is something I hope to improve in the days to come.

4::Be honest.  Love people.  Share your heart.

5::Blog about things that interest you, not just what everybody else seems to be blogging about.  Not only am I happier doing this but people get a chance to see who I really am!

6::Interact often with those around you.  It’s valuable to take the time to pour into the blog community.  Plus, it’s just good manners.

7::Be positive.  I think it’s best to share hard times and drama with a good friend over a cup of coffee.  That’s why you won’t be seeing any of that here.  Sure, I have bad days like everybody else but I’m just choosing not to blog about it.  Just a personal choice.  That’s all.

8::It’s ok if it isn’t perfect.  Blog anyway.

9::Pictures are your best friend!!! I’ve LOVED taking photos throughout theispast year and posting them for my friends and family to see.  It’s expanded my creative mindset and allowed me to share my travels with the world.  Plus, posts are just so much better with pretty photos.

10::I have some amazing readers and I am super duper over the moon thankful for every kind word, every link shared, every piece of advice, every friend I’ve made…thank you, thank you, thank you.  You make it worth blogging another year.  *hug
