Dear Diary

I drove in to Austin last evening to spend some time with my best friend, Jamie.  We’ve known each other since college and she really is the best.  When I arrived, she had pizza and three gift wrapped boxes waiting for me.  It was a late birthday present, I suppose. I opened the gifts to find something special inside…three boxes FILLED with old journals, notes, gifts from ex boyfriends and memories that I had collected since jr high.  Jamie has been lugging these around since we lived together 10 years ago!! HA!! Needless to say, lots of laughter began as we dove into an endless stream of teenage angst and forgotten memories.

I have laughed until I’ve cried about some of these entries.  Let me just share with you the first page of this particular diary. Prepare yourself.  It’s pretty awesome.  Take a trip with me to 1994….

Dear Diary,
Wow!  I haven’t written in over a year.  I’m so SORRY!  So much has happened.  Now it seems my whole life is devoted to Jonathan Taylor Thomas!  I know everything about him.  I only have 86 pictures of him on my wall but I want a lot more.  I wish I could meet him.  I know I will.  I sent off an entry to win a trip to Hollywood.  I’ll be able to meet him if I win.  I made 51 copies and sent them all off…

I am crying from laughing so hard as I type this! Wow, just wow. Sweet little Laura.  I don’t even know what’s happened to JTT, the love of my teenage years.  Oh life…you are so funny sometimes.  I never know what to expect but I am thankful the Lord continues to grow me. I’m also glad that I can look back at the past 17 years and be thankful for what they’ve held.  Some moments more embarrassing than others.

Way to be awesome, Jamie.  And thanks for helping me make so many of the memories in those boxes.  We should plan on filling many many more.
